the masked man evolution and headrush prints..

While mooching through loads of old outline books and boxes of drawings the other day, I started realising that my masked man character is older than I think..
I don't really know why I've chosen to draw this character so much over the years. Going through loads of my old stuff, I realised that even my oldest characters had bits of them in development.. So I thought I'd share some..

Obviously now, but sub-consiously then, I was heavily influenced by Warhammer Space Marine figures and Bode style artwork.
I went through a phase of painting space marine minatures, which looking back, was good practice for my toy customising I do today..
I've got books and boxes full of oldness so I could fill pages of this with images of this character. So I've kept it brief...Thinking about it, I would love to know how long I've spent developing, drawing, designing, painting, printing and modelling this character so far..
The masked man has seen a lot more of the world than I have... Looking back now, when I started drawing those first few characters I had no idea what he would become or how far he might get to travel..

I've put the masked man image on all sorts of surfaces.. The munny on the left was customised in pen.. Straight up, hand drawn onto it in biro..No mistakes allowed..

The image below is probably one of the most abused, used, graffiti images on the internet.. Years ago it leaked off my website as it wasnt protected. Since then it has been used by thousands of people for various things.. In one way I'm glad people like it, and it does have my name on it I suppose.
I have found that there are companies that give it away for free as a background for myspaces etc. Facebook gave it away as a banner for profiles, I found a dodgy company printing this on shoes in India....There are forums in foreign languages that talk about this picture...
Google search hoakser images to see the extent of the useage..

HUGLIFE MODIFIED QEE BEAR

After finishing my  IRON MICKQEE MAIDEN entry for the Heavy Metal Qee project, I couldn't wait to get another custom going with some new skills I'd acquired. I started doing this last week and worked on him for a few hours most nights. As with most of my work, it's not too planned out, I try to work freestyle, so once I'd started sculpting his face the ideas started coming.

For some reason, the qee bear I had to begin with looked odd. I think it had two left arms. I decided to make one his leg and have him sitting down. His "strong arm" was raided from my random bits of toy drawer along with his gun, which is from a different toy but fits into this hand perfectly with a finger on the trigger.
After hours of sculpting, thinking and looking he started to take shape.
I kept it so his head and small arm are still poseable and can be rotated.
Some other details to look for include his boobs, nipples, spots, nappy, and split head..

The paint job only took two sessions, one of them was a long one, until just after 4 in the morning. I added extra detail and character in the paint work.. These include some stiches, yellowing teeth, tattoos, stained nappy, cracked lips and a nike swoosh on the trainer.

RECYCLED CANS..

    THE  EMPTY CAN SAGA....

As a graffiti artist, empty cans are something I have loads of..A few years ago I started using my emptys as something to work on..My first few cans were of my masked man character painted in acylics..I liked the look of them, sold them and have carried on doing them ever since..

They aren't the easiest objects to work on due to limited space and awkward shape. Most of my character cans are freestyled in paint pen drawn straight onto the cans. My drawing and painting on curved surface techniques have improved a lot since I started..

They seem to sell quite well and I have a few people that now collect them, which encourages me to keep them coming..They look even better the more you have too..

AFFORDABLE ORIGINAL COLLECTABLE ARTWORK..

Looking at how many I've actually done over the years baffles me..I dont know an exact number, must be close to a thousand empty cans, maybe more..All used and recycled into models. To think that there sat all over the place, in different countries is cool..They are all signed, so right now my name is sat on someones t.v in Spain, or in a display cabinet in New York, that just makes me do more..
Each set or can is unique, no 2 cans are the same ever. Prices vary depending on time spent per can.. I try to have a range of prices as some cans are more detailed than others..

I sell them mainly through my ebay store and my etsy store, links can be found on the right of this blog.

PERSONALISED GIFT IDEA...

Personalised cans are available with your name of choice.. Just like these ones..

Thanks to anyone who has bought my cans, I have photographs of most of them so will have to tally them up soon. I'd love to know where some of them have ended up, send me photographs if possible please..

Loads more coming all the time, check my etsy store and ebay links... thanks.. Keep Britain Tidy!
